The new elected committee met for the first time during the IDA World Congress in Perth in September 2011. The members of this new committee are:

Joint Young Water Professionals event in Fremantle, Perth - September 2011
During the IDA World Congress the Young Leader Program (YLP) teamed up with the Australian Water Association Young Water Professionals (YWPs) to hold a networking reception for 80 young professionals. The venue for the event was the Little Creatures Brewery Loft in Fremantle, a top quality local brewery. A good time was had by all and the YLP/YWP provided a relaxed atmosphere for networking. Victor Verbeek and Guillaume Clairet, outgoing YLP co-chairs, announced the incoming YLP committee before we were treated to an insight into career progression from long time desalters John Tonner (Consolidated Water) and Tom Pankratz (GWI). This included a graphic commentary of John’s introduction as a young engineer to the noisy, clunky piece of machinery that was reverse osmosis and a strong warning that desalination will ‘get in your blood.’ Special thanks go to Amanda Hazell, National AWA YWP Chair, for the local organisation of the event. The event served as a great starting point for getting YWPs involved in the IDA’s Young Leader Program.

IDA's Young Leaders Program was officially launched at the 2009 IDA World Congress in Dubai. The goals of this exciting initiative are to help promote opportunities in the industry, support career advancement, and provide a forum for communication and the exchange of ideas among young professionals and the industry at large.
